In a previous life, I was a graphic designer at a publishing house, and I'll always have a weakness for good typography and a well-designed layout. That's why I was instantly drawn to the work of Pop Chart Lab, a design collaborative based in Brooklyn, NY. Their goal: "to render all of human experience in chart form."
You may have seen their Grand Taxonomy of Rap Names or Migratory Patterns of Fresh Princes (from West Philadelphia to Bel Air, naturally), but the poster I'm excited to display near my desk is their new cocktail chart, which breaks down 68 drinks into spirits, mixers, garnishes, and proper glassware. Want to know how to make a Brandy Smash, or which drinks have Lillet Blanc? It's all there. (You never know when you'll need to do a little deskside cocktail-making in this gig.)
Thanks to the kind folks at Pop Chart Lab, we have 3 copies of this excellent poster to give away to lucky cocktail fans this week. To enter to win, just tell us in the comments: what cocktail ingredients are you into right now? Are you on a Campari kick? Into sherry, rye, or absinthe? All about orange bitters? Let us know!
Interested in the design process? Here's a pretty cool piece about the chart's evolution.
Contest will end and comments will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 13. One entry per community member. Winners must provide US mailing address, sorry, posters cannot be shipped abroad. Standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.
