For me, this mouthfilling Washington wine is all about finish. As you swallow, tart apples dipped in honey linger and linger, tumbling into mineral water. You can wait for minutes after each sip; sit with the bottle for hours.
Eroica (named for Beethoven's Third Symphony) is viscous and rich, balancing butterscotch and lime peel, greengage plums, apple skins, silky fruit and a spray of tangy acidity. (I could use just a touch more minerality, but I've gotten spoiled lately.)
Pitted fruit (somewhere between apricots and cherries), ginger, and slate round up the rest, and this just off-dry wine is seamless with food. Order in Chinese, make crabcakes, clam chowder, fried soft shells. It's a steal if you find it for $15, I'd hesitate a bit for $20.
