Washinton DC: Istanbul, Not Constantinople at Zaytinya

At Jose Andres' Zaytinya in Washington DC, cocktails come with catchy (if a little cheesy) names. There's the Greek Side Car, the Black Sea Tea, and the Istanbul, Not Constantinople ($10), a drink that can be summed up in two words: boozy apricots.

Maker's Mark bourbon serves as this base for this delicious cocktail where apricot makes an appearance in three different forms. The fruity sweetness comes from a potent puree of Turkish apricots, coupled with apricot eau-de-vie and an apricot-raki foam. The shaken cocktail surely leans on the sweeter side but the cocktail is potent enough to be taken seriously, despite all that fruit.
