I vaguely remember a time and place when "I'm too hot" was more than a string of random syllables. In such times and places, a glass of this gently flavored watermelon and cucumber juice with hints of lime and mint would really have hit the spot. So refreshing, so hydrating, so wildly inappropriate for my scarf- and boots-clad life. With any luck, though, some of you will be able to put its cooling properties to good use this season.

We've already had a string of exceptionally hot, humid days here in NYC, so the need for something refreshing and delicious that isn't necessarily boozy is especially acute. Limeade is just different enough that it seems like an impressive addition to a summer picnic lunch or dinner party, but is still ridiculously easy to make from scratch. Here are three fresh takes on limeade that are just as good as the original.
Things you won't see me drinking a lot of these days: Day-Glo margaritas in flavors like "Blue (Berry) Monster" and "Razz-Ma-Tazz." I like my tazz unrazzed, thanks. These five real-fruit margaritas are everything we want fruity drinks to be: balanced, flavorful, not too sweet, not too sharp or strong, and totally refreshing. Plus, they're easy to make for a group.
Draft beer and variety are two of my favorite things, but I generally avoid bars with too many taps, because I don't trust that the turnover's high enough to keep all the kegs fresh, and the sad fact is that a clean Miller Lite tastes better than a dirty anything.
