Giveaway: Win a Copy of 'Winter Cocktails'
We're so proud when Serious Eats contributors write and publish books, and this fall sees the release of an amazing one: 'Winter Cocktails' by our own María del Mar Sacasa. Given that María is an accomplished food stylist and the book is photographed by Tara Striano, we're not surprised that the book is gorgeous, full of the kind of shots that make your mouth water and convince you that it's time to get the party started.
We're just torn about which drink to make first—should we start with the hot mulled pineapple juice, spiced with cloves and peppercorns and spiked with dark rum and brandy? Or the Nutella Melt, topped with whipped cream, coconut flakes, and toasted hazelnuts? We have our eye on the punches, too: one with apple cider, maple, and herbs, or the 'Bloody Good Punch' made with bourbon, blood orange, and almond liqueur, fizzed up with sparkling wine.
The book also has some nice step-by-step photographic guides that will help you entertain in style, showing how to make big decorative ice molds for punches, how to make curled citrus peels, and how to rim a cocktail glass. The final section also includes festive snack recipes, from cheese-crusted olives and roasted marrow bones to homemade marshmallows, flavored with peppermint, lavender, or orange.
