You might have noticed that we're pretty big fans of Pop Chart Lab. We like their cocktail chart and their awesome poster of 'The Various Varieties of Fruits'. So we're pumped that they've released a new super-sized beer poster, diagramming over 500 different beers in a massive 60 by 40-inch format.
Patrick Mulligan, Co-Founder and Editorial Director of Pop Chart Lab, is pretty excited about the project, too. "In addition to being obsessive beer chartists, we're also simply fans of craft beer," he said. "We knew that it was time to update the chart and make it even larger so we could capture more of the work of the great breweries."
There were some challenges along the way. "What held us back for a while," says Mulligan, "was finding a printer that could produce a 60" x 40" print that met our quality expectations. We searched far and wide, and then happened to check with Duggal Visual right over the river in Manhattan right after they'd bought a wide-format digital offset printer that's the only one of its kind on the East Coast. When we saw a super sharp, vibrant proof from that beast of a machine, we knew it was go-time."
Mulligan's not lacking in ambition. "We have the modest goal," he says, "of rendering all human experience into charts, so canvas size and time are our primary limitations. I think we can be happy at 60x40 for a while, but soon enough I'm sure we'll be looking for a printer that can 100" wide."
You can buy this giant print on the Pop Chart Lab website for $90. But we have good news for one Serious Drinker: we have one awesome chart to give away to one person with adequate wall space.
