What's Your Favorite Rye Cocktail?

Last week we sat around drinking discussing bourbon drinks; this week, we have rye on our minds. There are times when a cocktail needs something a bit more assertive than the soft richness of bourbon, and during those times, we reach for rye.

Classic rye drinks include the Sazerac, the Vieux Carré, and the Manhattan, to name a few. Riffing from there, you can sip neighborhood-named Manhattan variations like the Brooklyn, the Red Hook, the Greenpoint, the Bensonhurst, and the Slope, to mention a few. And you can just keep riffing your own variations, depending on your vermouth and amaro stash.

But even if you've improvised your way from Manhattan all the way to Paris (just add St. Germain and dry vermouth instead of sweet) there are more rye drinks to try. Here are a dozen more rye cocktail recipes for your mixing inspiration.

Do you have a favorite rye drink? We want to know: what are you mixing with rye whiskey, now that it's fall?
