Friendly Staff, Good Jukebox
Friendly Staff, Good Jukebox
"Pitcher House Upper Deck in Redondo Beach (CA)... It definitely has a little something for everyone! Karaoke (Wednesdays), pool tables, ping pong, an extensive jukebox, even arcade games! They have a great draft selection, impressively-stocked bar, better-than-average menu, and the friendliest staff in the South Bay." — Sara Morgan Strom (Coast Beach Cafe & Bar)
Once the Doors Are Locked
Once the Doors Are Locked
"My favorite after-work bar has always been the bar at which I'm working. Once the customers are gone and the doors are locked, the servers and bartenders share a drink, and they're all relieved, exhausted, exhilarated and, most importantly, out of character. It's late, the streets are empty, and it's almost time to go home. I love those moments." — Chad Musick (Sip Tasting Room and Rooftop Lounge)
Rye in the Tenderloin, San Francisco
Rye in the Tenderloin, San Francisco
"I love going to Rye in the Tenderloin here in SF.  You can always get a great cocktail and they have a nightly cocktail special.  Sometimes they'll serve food late from Tango & Stache and if you just want a shot and a beer, they've got that too.  Jen, the bar manager, is always there and if you've had a crappy night, she'll get you started off right or Vince may come and give you a hug..." — Brian Means (Fifth Floor)
Clark Street Ale House, Chicago
Clark Street Ale House, Chicago
"Clark Street Ale House. It's a lovely 4 o'clock bar here in downtown Chicago, nice beer and whiskey lists. The owner also has a late-night bar nearer to my home on the north side of town called the Fireside. They had a great beer list with a local focus before that was the thing to do." — Sarah Mengoni (South Water Kitchen)
Masa Azul in Chicago
Masa Azul in Chicago
"I was just introduced to an amazing little place called Masa Azul.  Great food and an entire inventory based on mezcals and tequila. I had an amazing interpretation of the classic Negroni, but sans gin, add mezcal. Wonderful cocktail and they are not slouching on their food program either. All fresh ingredients and mostly local products.  They are big advocates of Urban Till, which is a local company providing fresh and organic produce.  If you love tequila and refined presentations of Mexican comfort foods, this is the place." — Roger Bailey (Filini Bar and Restaurant)

Lots of Options in the Mission, San Francisco
Lots of Options in the Mission, San Francisco
"I think it depends what kind of mood you’re in, but I like to go somewhere that the evening can unfold and you can get a superior cocktail and a good bite to eat.  There's a lot of great ones in the Mission that begin with "L": Locanda, Laszlo, Lolinda... I often go with "B," for Beretta." — Bryan Ranere (Foreign Cinema)

Dancing or a Game of Pool?
"Hard to choose just one. After work if I am going out, I hit Bar Mandrake in Culver City for their beer and whiskey specials, hip little dance floor, and a DJ. If I'm by myself I walk to the end of my block and head to The Trip in Santa Monica for a game of pool, live music, and good beer." — Blake Landis (Cinco)
