Whether you're camping, picnicking, or basking in the radiant heat of the grill all spring and summer long, there's plenty of gear to help you stay caffeinated in the great outdoors.
For campers, bringing along some simple brewing devices makes the morning before a hiking or fishing trip (and after a long night in a sleeping bag) that much lovelier: A warm mug in hand in the brisk, woodsy morning air kind of can't be beat. For backyard brewers, plenty of sturdy servingware and even roasting tools can put a little extra oomph into weekend gatherings and weekly bean stock.
Be aware, however, that grinding, brewing, and even roasting under the sun (or stars) does come with some caveats. For one thing, follow the Boy Scout credo of "Leave no trace," and always discard of your waste—be it grounds and a filter from a fireside brew, or chaff from a home-roasted batch of beans—in a responsible and respectful way. (Chaff makes great compost material; so do spent grounds, which you can seal in an airtight container or zip-top bag until you get somewhere with better disposal options.)
Here are a few of our favorite tools for getting the most out of the fresh and and longer daylight hours in our collective immediate future. (Hallelujah!)
