On February 4th in San Francisco—and February 6th in Los Angeles—the second annual In Pursuit of Balance wine tasting will take place. The idea: "to promote dialogue around the meaning and relevance of balance in California pinot noir and chardonnay."
The tastings are a chance to try wines from 28 different California wineries. What's special about them? Co-founder Jasmine Hirsch told us the producers are selected "by a kick-ass group of tasters (Jon Bonné, Wolfgang Weber, Ehren Jordan, and Rajat Parr) who taste blind to select the best in elegant, balanced California pinot noir and chardonnay." She notes that the tasting is "a killer opportunity for wine lovers to get introduced to the next wave of great pinot producers as well as many of the best old school, established names in California pinot noir," such as Littorai, Calera, Peay, Au Bon Climat, Failla, etc. It's a chance to taste some small-production, mailing-list only wines that you might not ever try otherwise.
