Vegetarian boozers are lucky in Austin. They can't rely on bacon and egg breakfast tacos to cure their hangovers, but at least they have Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse and Café. This combination coffee shop and restaurant serves fresh vegetarian sandwiches, tacos, and other satisfying (but not food coma-inducing) fare at bargain prices. And there's no need to drag yourself out of bed too early because breakfast is served all day.

The Tamale Breakfast ($6.75) may be the the most intriguing item on the menu. Two sweet potato and pecan tamales are served alongside two eggs and warm tortillas. A filling of finely ground pecans runs through the center of these tamales made of both masa and sweet potato. The nutty pecan flavor permeates every bite, but they also taste deeply of cinnamon and chile powder. Spicy food is key to hangover recovery, and Bouldin Creek's top-notch iced coffee helps, too.
