Slideshow: Ask A Bartender: What's Your Least Favorite Drink To Make?

Anything with heavy cream
Anything with heavy cream
"My least favorite drink to make behind the bar is usually anything with heavy cream. The jiggers can't go in your regular clean water sink, your shaking tins become slippery. Also, when one goes out to a table you know that at least a few more are about to get ordered. Even people who like drinks 'not too sweet' tend to love drinks like the Dominicana." —Theo Lieberman (Lantern's Keep, Milk & Honey )
Tea
Tea
"That's easy, hot tea. It only costs a few bucks and takes more time and steps than most cocktails." —Adam Robinson (The Bent Brick)
Cheese Martini?
Cheese Martini?
"Vodka martini with bleu cheese-stuffed olives. Seeing the oil from the bleu cheese rise to the surface of the drink just turns my stomach." —Paul McGee (RPM )
Irish Coffee
Irish Coffee
"There are only a couple of contenders for this one really because I'm quite happy to make you anything you want. Except, if I'm busy, an Irish Coffee—it just takes sooooo long—and then, when I float the fresh cream on the top, you'll probably stir the bloody thing! What a waste!" —John Cummins (The Dawson Lounge)
Something Pink
Something Pink
"I can appreciate when guests ask that I guide their cocktail choice based on a spirit or proffered flavor (i.e.: "I'm not sure what I want but I like gin and tart flavors, etc). But I always have a hard time when people order drinks based on their favorite color. I can't tell you how many times a guest asks for a pink drink or a green drink." —Jenny Castillo (Cafeteria)
Anything Not in My Mise
Anything Not in My Mise
"I love making any drink that I am set up to make. Mise en Place is the key to success. If you order a drink from me you will never see me sigh or roll my eyes, but if I am not set up for a whipped cream and hot coffee drink it may put me in the weeds. I do my best to be prepared for anything... That is not to say that if you order a lemon drop in a bucket with extra sugar on the rim, I won't have some impact on the rest of your blind date." —Dave Shenaut (Riffle NW)
Sake Bombs
Sake Bombs
“My absolute least favorite drink to create or deliver is a "sake bomb."  More often than not, it’s lack of education about sake that leads to guests ordering sake bombs; they have never tried good sake and therefore don't know they have this great option available to them.  We are going to serve over 100 premium and super premium sakes at PABU Izakaya opening next month and a big part of my job will be educating guests and delivering sakes that they will enjoy without the beer.  Occasionally, guests ask me why I'm trying to talk them out of sake bombs and I always say, "I'd do the same thing if you were asking me to make you a mimosa with Cristal." — Tiffany Dawn Soto (Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore)
Yikes.

"Mojito with Splenda.  Yeah, that's happened." — Aaron Polsky (Amor y Amargo)
