When John and I wrote about Manhattan Special Espresso Coffee Soda earlier this year, we found out just how many coffee soda fanatics there are in the world. (Even just among the Serious Eats staff.) And unlike many other sodas we tried, we kept coming back to Manhattan Special. There it was at a bodega... okay, we'll grab one. It showed up at our favorite sandwich shop; we're grab one there, too. There it was at our grocery store, in big bottles! It's gotten to a point where he keeps the larger bottles in his refrigerator and in mine.
Needless to say, we've had fun drinking it—but also coming up with more ways to drink it: blended with ice, poured over ice cream, and, of course, with a little something to booze it up.
