Tasting Sixpoint's Mad Scientist Beers with Food at the Guilty Goose, NYC

We gathered at Chelsea's Guilty Goose this week to try out five courses of executive chef Christopher Parks' American cuisine paired with beers from Sixpoint's Mad Scientist series.

Sixpoint's Mad Scientist line is a limited-run series of experimental beers the brewery releases once every two months. The series gives Sixpoint's brewers a chance to unleash some of their wilder notions on the public. The beers often incorporate unusual ingredients or techniques and usually fall well outside the lines of traditional styles.

The night's line-up included:

It was a rare opportunity to try so many of the beers together in one setting, and Parks and Sixpoint's Jeff Gorlechen were both on hand to guide guests through each course. For us, the evening peaked in the third course, with a deeply satisfying short rib cannelloni paired with Sixpoint's high-octane Doppel Sticke Lager. Click through the slideshow to see all the pairings.
