At Sweetleaf in Long Island City, coffee is the focus, but they do tea justice, too. During the summer months, drop in for a iced fruit tea, made to order ($3.75). You can choose fresh mango or strawberry puree to be added to your brisk China black tea.
The brewed tea is blended with just enough of the puree to make it slightly sweet while subtly imparting the fruit flavor, but not taking away from the integrity of the tea itself. It's a nice change of pace from a regular iced tea, and perfect for coupling with Sweetleaf's house-baked mini brownies. They're rich with dark chocolate, supremely fudgy—you might be surprised that they're vegan and gluten-free.
