Riesling Report: Hirsch Zobing Riesling Kamptal 2009
We're celebrating the Summer of Riesling by trying a different bottle every weekday. Got a favorite riesling? Recommend it in the comments!

Dry (really dry) and front-loaded with powdery lemony notes and hints of bay leaf, jasmine, and tarragon that vanish in your mouth as you swallow. This is a compact wine, with minerality laced into an intensely tart acidity. The wine has enough body to support its taut, focused flavors; the question is, can your food handle it?
Try playing to the slight saltiness of this wine with raw oysters or steamed clams, or maybe cold smoked fish preparations. A Greek salad with cucumber and feta could latch in nicely to the herbal notes in this wine. Let the wine warm up a little to bring out the floral complexity.
Around $24, sample provided for review.
