A relative newcomer to the frozen custard scene in Milwaukee, Cream City Custard is a big, bright, clean restaurant that acts as a neighborhood meeting spot. It follows the standard "flavor of the day" custard format, and on the savory side of things, serves a huge array of burgers, sandwiches, and Greek specialties.

Of the two shakes I tried, the banana malt really stood out. It blended sweet ripe banana with creamy custard. The small chunks of fruit reassured me that there was no fake banana flavoring to be found (and the chunks were soft, not frozen.) Malt and banana complement each other beautifully, and while the malt powder was slightly gritty in some sips, I didn't mind. This thick, rich malt is worth returning for.

The chocolate shake was nothing to write home about, and had a flavor like a super sweet hot chocolate mix. I prefer dark chocolate, so it was a little too sweet for me. (My dining companion loved it—your mileage may vary.)
