At ABC Kitchen the Solar Power smoothie is most certainly a full meal. (And at $12, it should be.) Starting with a puree of fresh avocado at the base, the smoothie incorporates frozen pineapple chunks and plenty of Thai coconut meat. You do get what you pay for: good ingredients, and plenty of it.
There's just enough kale and cilantro to offer the feel-good flavor of fresh vegetables, but not so much that the drink turns grassy. The sole sweetener used is a bit of agave, the sweetener balanced with an equal dose of fresh lime. Balance is a key word in the smoothie, where no one flavor outshines the others. It's a clean though very thick smoothie, almost milkshake-like in texture and equally creamy. And as if all that wasn't enough, the crowning touch is 20 grams of hemp protein. Solar Power indeed!
