A month (or a summer) of riesling is a beautiful thing—there are wines made from this grape to satisfy almost any craving...piercing and eye-opening, rich and heady, all rocks, or all fruit. But as much as I love the diversity of bottles we've been trying, this Mosel wine is one I could stock up on. This is a wine I could stick with and be truly happy.
Zingy and glistening, this silky golden wine has a little more stuffing than the rest, balancing fragrant nectarine notes with a lightly buzzy acidity (lemons squeezed on honeydew, soccer-game orange segments) and lots of green herbs (sprigs of thyme and fennel, eucalyptus.) The lemon-drop and spearmint finish doesn't go away, leaving your mouth tingling. It encourages lip smacking. It encourages refilling the glass.
Serve it with roasted root vegetables or shrimp and crabmeat with herbs and cream, saffron perhaps. Experiment with creamy, even earthy cheeses. To be honest, you may empty the bottle before the food is served.
