I had to smile at the thought of UT students ordering the Dirty Sanchez ($3.50) from Torchy's Tacos as a hangover remedy, since that's just what students did at my alma mater—only at Hoagie Haven, a Dirty Sanchez was a chicken tender-mozzarella stick-french fry hoagie, not a taco. (College towns can't resist off-color food names, apparently.)

Still, if I were at UT, I'd be here to kick off my weekend. The Dirty Sanchez is a vegetarian hangover helper that's every bit as sloppy and satisfying as its meatier counterparts. A fried poblano is the centerpiece, with that pepper's great ability to taste reasonably tame and vegetal on first bite, but build to an ever-increasing heat, rather than dominating the other ingredients right off the bat; there's a pile of scrambled eggs on there, plus pickled carrots for a fresh crunch, cheese, and guacamole (because that's basically never a bad thing). It's also, at under four bucks, an awful lot of food; one would probably satisfy me, and two would knock out just about anything.
