Granitas are a recent addition to the menu at Pulino's, right in time for triple digit weather. They're churning out two types of Stumptown coffee granitas ($5 each) with the use of an authentic granita machine.
First up is Classica a Caffe (pictured above) a semi-frozen espresso blended with sugar. It's topped with just a dollop of cream and a few coffee beans, served in little glass cups. The coffee beans are just for looks, but that cream truly elevates the granita. It's rich and sweet enough to edge into dessert territory, the soft crushed ice melting at the tip of your tongue.
Pulino's also does the L.E.S. Graniatina which is a semi-frozen latte (instead of espresso) blended with sugar. Just as luxurious, bordering on velvety. I'll be swapping out my iced coffees for quite a few of these as the temperatures climb higher.
