All the NYC-based Kombucha addicts I know are divided into two camps: some are loyal to Kombucha Brooklyn and the others would never stray from tart, fizzy BAO Kombucha.
For me, it depends on which flavors I'm craving. For grape or a spicy ginger-strawberry I rely on Kombucha Brooklyn. But sometimes I just need a Super Green, BAO's blend of black and green tea, kombucha, spirulina, and blue green algae. The vegetal flavors, which can be overwhelming in many "green" drinks, are balanced (though not masked) with a sweet, gentle fizz.
They also offer a not-too-sweet Spice Kombucha with a good dose of cinnamon and cardamom. It's fragrant in the way you might find a cup of chai, but decidedly American, with rich molasses notes lingering on the tongue. Price points of BAO and Brooklyn Kombucha are similar, ranging from $4-$5 a bottle depending where you purchase.
