To create its first collaboration beer, The Bruery teamed up with Cigar City Brewing Co. to brew an Imperial Oud Bruin. This 8.5% ABV dark sour beer spent more than a year in whiskey and wine barrels before it was blended and bottled.

The result pours a dark and hazy reddish brown with just a wisp of a white head. The aroma is a concentrated burst of sour cherry and cranberries infused with oak. I was impressed by Marrón Acidifié's complexity. Cherry, chocolate, and leather give way to balsamic vinegar and the barrels' tannins. There's some residual sweetness under the beer's tartness.

Marrón Acidifié is an exceptional American spin on the sour brown ales of Belgium's Flanders region. It's drinking great now and will likely improve over the next few years if cellared properly. Put this beer's acidity to work by pairing it with duck or wild game.
