The strict "no takeout" coffee policy at Nespresso in Soho may come across as a bit haughty, but do yourself a favor and slide into one of their deep, cushy chairs. We're here for a little break—and an Iced Vanilla Caffe, a summertime favorite for when the Soho heat and the sweaty crowds become unbearable. You need a reliable cafe to escape to, and a chilly drink to bring down your temperature.
The Iced Vanilla Caffe is equal parts iced coffee and rich milkshake, with coffee and vanilla bean ice cream blended together then poured over a tall glass of crushed ice. It's loose, lush and not nearly as rich or sweet as it sounds.
If you prefer the the coffee and ice cream separated, go for the Liégeois, a simple and bright concoction of iced coffee over vanilla ice cream. Who said Nespresso was only about espresso?
