The gala was a great opportunity to taste unfamiliar brands of spirits and liqueurs, both in cocktails and on their own. Here, the Hungarian herbal liqueur Zwack was shaken with lemon juice, simple syrup, Dolin Blanc vermouth, orange marmalade, and Peychaud's, and topped with soda water and a spray of Captain Morgan 100 Proof rum.
Blue Mountain Daiquiri
One of the stars of the evening: Appleton Estate Reserve, demerara syrup, lime juice, nutmeg, and a dusting of Blue Mountain coffee grounds.
Laird's Straight Apple Brandy 100 proof, date molasses syrup, coriander tincture, and mint sprigs. Complex, unusual, and totally tasty.
Whistlepig rye 10 year, lemon juice, maple syrup, and red wine. This was one of our favorite cocktails of the evening, beautifully balanced.
Sombra Mezcal, Averna, fresh grapefruit and lemon juice, simple syrup, ginger beer, and cayenne make for a smoky and spicy cocktail.
They were also showing off the new Averna Sambucas—the citrus version is really delicious!
The Lindy Hop
A smooth variation on the Aviation, with Bootlegger 21 vodka, Luxardo Maraschino, white grapes, lemon and lime.
Bärenjager Honey Liqueur, Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine, Dimmi, Campari, lemon juice, orange flower water, topped off with Dale's Pale Ale.

If you haven't tasted Root, you should—it's like root beer for grownups. For this drink, 2 ounces of Root were shaken with fresh lime, simple syrup, and mint leaves.

Hendrick's Gin, St-Germain, lime juice, simple syrup, lavender bitters, and soda water.
