Cool Drinks, Boston: Iced Hot Chocolate at L.A. Burdick

I spotted my first crocus of the season last week and knew exactly what I had to do next: get to Burdick's for an iced hot chocolate ($5).
The New Hampshire-based company makes some of the richest, most straightforward hot chocolate around, from nothing but high-quality chocolate (most of which is sourced from Grenada) and steamed milk; in fact, the dark-chocolate version is more than this bitter chocolate loyalist can take, so I always opt to go with a 50-50 mix of dark and milk.
Their Harvard Square café used to be a cold weather-only hangout for me, until last year when I discovered this delicious iced version.
It's about as decadent as summer drinks get. It starts with an extra-thick batch of hot chocolate so that the drink isn't too diluted, and it winds up much richer than a milkshake.
