The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen has won over the SOMA lunch crowd easily with their creative and decadent grilled cheese concoctions. But butter and cheese aren't the only draw.

AGCK offers house-made sodas, with flavors changing regularly, dependent on the freshest ingredients available. A recent option was a Meyer lemon and lavender soda ($3), a crisp, fresh accompaniment to the spot's rich sandwiches. The Meyer lemon taste is tart enough to be refreshing without making your mouth pucker—it has the ideal sweet-sour balance of a good, fresh lemonade. The lemon taste is accentuated with a hint of lavender that's more aromatic than anything (meaning no soapy taste), and a delicate, subtle carbonation.

The Meyer lemon is still available along with a spicy pomegranate, but expect the flavors to change through the spring.
