Jackson Strains a Jack Rose
2 ounces of Laird's Applejack Brandy
Measure 2 ounces of Applejack into a clean tumbler.
3/4 ounce Grenadine
Add 3/4 ounce of Grenadine (preferably homemade) to the glass.
1/2 ounce lemon juice
Add 1/2 an ounce of freshly squeezed and strained lemon juice.
1 dash Peychaud's bitters
Add 1 dash of Peychaud's bitters.
Fill the glass with ice, preferably straight from the freezer.
Cover with a shaker and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds.
Strain the drink into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
Squeeze a lemon twist over the drink to release the fragrant oils onto its surface.
Rub the rim
Rub the rim of the glass with the squeezed lemon twist, then discard it.
Ready to drink.
