The packaging of Kusmi Tea's Prince Vladimir is exquisite. Each muslin tea pouch is sewn to the tag stating proper brewing temperature and time. The box is vivid turquoise and gold; it looks good on a shelf. But we're in it for the tea.
The aroma bursts with cinnamon, clove, and floral notes, with hints of vanilla and pepper, but the flavor is very even and just delicately spicy. It wasn't as bold as we expected; it's bergamot-laced but balanced, and full of warming spices without tasting like potpourri. Prince Vladimir is a comforting, clean-flavored rainy-day tea, and Earl Grey lovers may find the splurge worth it.
Available online, $13.50 for 20 muslin tea bags, or $16.95 for a 4.4 ounce tin. We received a sample for review.
