Behind the Scenes at Great Divide Brewing in Denver, Colorado
We recently visited Great Divide Brewing in Denver, Colorado in order to get a good look at the beermaking process from the inside. Greeted by heavy metal music and a host of friendly employees, we toured the operation from start to finish, culminating in a grueling "field test" of Great Divide's offerings in the attached taproom.
Great Divide's beers aren't just lauded locally—the brewery has won seventeen Great American Beer Festival medals and five World Beer Cup awards. We especially loved the Claymore Scotch Ale, with its dark roasted caramel flavor and delicious smokiness, and the Wild Raspberry Ale, made with real red and black raspberries. But it's hard to beat the Espresso Oak Aged Yeti, which features an intense jolt of espresso from Pablo's, a local coffee roaster. When the weather is warm, you can sip your pint on the brewery's outdoor patio.
